Jalandhar 19 August (Jaswinder Azad)- The World Photography Day was celebrated in a grand manner by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of CT Institute of Higher Studies (CTIHS) by organizing a one day workshop on photography at its Shahpur Campus on Friday. The students after a theoretical introduction to Photography and Lighting in workshop "DIY (Do it Yourself): Photography", were given three subjects to theme their pictures; which were Life, Emotion and Creation. The submission of three photographs for any one subject was considered. The Photographs thus submitted were exhibited and assessed on their gatherings of technical skills and understanding of Photography. The Judge and resource person for the event will be Mr. Karamveer Sandhu (Senior Photojournalist). Geetika Sharma BA JMC-II), Navneet Kaur (B.Sc Non- Medical) and Alisha (BA-JMC-I) won the first, second and third position respectively.
Mr. Karamveer Sandhu (Senior Photojournalist) interacted with the students. In the workshop on photography, the students were given practical training in photojournalism and studio photography. He explained the students about understanding the colour temperature and its use in photography. He also shared his experiences on photo journalism. He briefed the students about the pressures to cover a news photo. He had given tips to students and talked to the students about various techniques of photography. He highlighted the working of correct aperture, shutter speed and ISO. He also mentioned about different concepts of lighting. He shared and discussed various professional photographs with the students.
Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) stressed on the famous saying, he quoted “A single photograph can say 1000 words.” He said, “If the right mood and idea has been conceptualized in the picture then it can explain the picture without the use of single word.” He said that the craze of photography has increased now everyone is trying to capture their moment to make it a moment to cherish.”
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) expressed his gratitude towards media personalities for sharing their salubrious thoughts with the aspiring photographers and journalists.
