Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organized a National Seminar on Goods and Services Tax

Jalandhar 9 February (Jaswinder Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with GST Taxation Bar organized a National Seminar on Goods and Services Tax. Hon’ble Sh. K.J. Chaudhary, Chief Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Rajan Dutt, Additional Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs enlightened the audience about GST and its implications for traders and common man. He also said every individual who consumes any goods or services will be affected by the implementation of GST. Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Joint Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs demonstrated that the introduction of GST will definitely take out the black money from the pockets of tax robbers.
Sh. K.J. Chaudhary threw light upon the uses of GST. He said it is a single tax which would be charged on the supply of goods and services right from the manufacture to the utilizing consumer.  GST would be a game changing reform for the Indian Economy by creating a commercial market and reducing the cascading effect of tax on the cost of goods and services.
Principal, Dr. Sucharita expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries and said it was a great initiative to hold such a seminar as GST is proposed to be implemented by July 2017 and the objective of this conference was to through light on the taxation reform with GST which is supposed to throw away the number of cascading indirect taxes.
The college also thanked the eminent personalities CA Ashwani Gupta, President, GST Bar; CA Surinder Mahajan, Vice President, GST Bar; CA Ashwani Jindal, General Secretary, GST Bar; Ashwani Randeva, Vice President, GST Bar; Mr. Rajan Dutt, Additional Commissioner of Central Excise and Taxation. The conference was attended by above 400 students of Departments of Commerce and Economics of the College and above 100 professionals like CAs, CSs from the City.
