Jalandhar 27 September (Gurkirat Singh)- The students of Airlines, Tourism and Hospitality Management of CT Institute of Hotel Management (CTIHM) and CT Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (CTIHM &CT) celebrated World Tourism Day under the patronage of CT Group of Institutions on Wednesday. Various events were organized in CT Maqsudan & Shahpur campus to mark this occasion. On this occasion Mr. Rajiv Verma ( SDM, Jalandhar 1), S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman CT Group), Mr. Harpreet Singh ( Vice Chairman, CT Group) Dr. G. S Kalra (Director Campus) inaugurated the event. Following which, an awareness walk on the global theme of the year- “Sustainable Tourism: a tool for development” was organized by Hospitality students at both the campuses. At the event, students from different States of India observed the theme of the year in true spirit and exhibited culture of their areas. The various event like Western Dance, Regional Dance, Live music performance, Solo, Dramas/skit, Karate show, Documentary viewing, ATHM Department, Glamour walk (Fashion show) were organized. The highlight of the event was traditional dress round in which students displayed their traditional attire. Folk songs and folk dances were also presented on this day. An environmental pledge relating to responsible tourism was also conducted. Bamboo dance and Sarlamkai a traditional dance of North east west was the centre of attraction of the event. Ms. and Mr. Tourism of the year were conferred to Mr. Manjinder and Ms. Mandeep of Airlines Students respectively. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bharat Kapoor (Director, CTIHM & CTIHM&CT) spoke about the Sustainable tourism and its impact and also gave a message to students about importance of water conservation and sustainable use of water sources. He said, “We will leave no stone unturned to make our India Incredible”. Judges from renowned Tourism organization witness the mesmerizing event. Rajiv Verma (SDM, Jalandhar 1) said in India many cities have been facing water scarcity due to drought-hit area. We have to preserve the water for our future children’s. Students of CT Group mesmerized the audience with their performance. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group) enlightened the students on the role of Tourism in uplifting the overall economy of any country. He also congratulated the faculty and students and said: “Such special day celebrations make us committed to the cause and purpose of the day.
