Dr. Usha Uppal Head of Department of hindi of DAV College Jalandhar retired after 37 glorious years of teaching

Jalandhar 11 October (Jaswinder Azad)- Head of Department of hindi, Dr. Usha Uppal retired after 37 glorious years of teaching, all the teachers of DAV College, Jalandhar bid farewell to their respected colleague. The program started with staff secretary Sharad Manocha welcoming all the guests who came to the Forum.
The Principal of the College, Dr. S. K. Arora, described Dr. Uppal as an example of women empowerment. Principal Arora said, "Dr. Usha Uppal was the first lady of Punjab who took the title of D.Litt. She is a role model for all women. She is an ambitious, practical, knowledgeable, industrious and up-to-date full teacher who has given her contribution in all fields. She is always with a smiling face, which is a symbol of her liveliness and happiness. She also brings happiness on others' face by her nature. Principal Dr. S.K. Arora congratulated his senior colleague and said that the change is the rule of nature but Dr. Usha Uppal will be remembered very much. For her the doors of the college will always be open and the college will always welcome them.
Dr. Usha Uppal joined DAV in 1990. She has been the Head Munshi Premchand Sahitya Parishad for so many years. She's also the Chief Editor of Ravi, Magazine of DAV College. Apart from this she also worked in the college's Research Committee, Decoration Committee, Discipline Committee, and made an unprecedented contribution. She became the Head of Hindi Department in 2016. Dr. Uppal, a member of the Language Faculty at bachelors and masters level in the University area, was also a member of the Board of Studies, besides the member of the Academic Council of Guru Nanak Dev University. In 2003, she became the first woman in Punjab to earn D.Litt.
In her farewell speech, Dr. Usha Uppal remembered the journey of her teaching and shared experiences. She said that she has been serving DAV College, Jalandhar for the last 37 years. She came as a teacher in DAV, but always remained a student. Because a teacher can retire, but a student can never retire. She always tried to learn, because man can never be perfect and must try to learn forever. She further said that I was working till now, I would still be working, I work because I get energy from it, my intellect gets sharp and I get an opportunity to use every talent hidden within me. People can have a positive effect on their ability, their knowledge, and pre-empted success. And I can offer meaningful service in this way.
Recalling hee happy moments in college, Dr. Uppal said that she started her teaching journey from DAV Batla on July 23, 1979 and during this time she worked with 11 principals. She has learnt a lot from all of them. She has a very emotional attachment with DAV. She said that all her journey was very pleasant and she is completely satisfied with her life. If time is pleasant, then pleasant  and good memories tend to shrink time. From every day of college I have learned something new, teaching has always been my hobby and books have always been my closest friend. I enjoyed the full term of my time. I am happy that I am in everyone's thoughts and will remain there always. Thanking everyone, Dr. Uppal said that she will always be owed to this love, affection and feelings. She said that now a new journey of her life is going to start, and she is fully prepared for this and will also spend this life in a delightful way. She gave best wishes to Dr. Sandeepna as the new Head of the Hindi Department on her  place. She said that she has full confidence in the skillful leadership of Dr. Sandeepna and she will take the department to new heights.
Meanwhile, College Vice Principal and Head of Commerce Department Prof. V.K. Sareen said that a man's work is his devotion, and whosoever followed this path, reached the sky. He said that during this long tenure of 37 years spent in this college, Dr. Uppal was always aware of her work.
Principal Dr. S.K. Arora, Vice Principal V.K. Sareen and T.D. Saini, Prof. Kamaldeep Singh, Dr. Manu Sood, Prof. Sharad Manocha, Dr. Sandeepna honored Dr. Uppal on this occasion. In addition, Prof. SS Randhawa (President, PCCTU Local Committee) and Prof. Manoj Arora (Secretary, PCCTU Local Committee) honored Dr. Uppal by giving Silver Saalvar on behalf of the Union. Thanks lines are presented by Staff Secretary by Prof. Sharad Manocha. Joint Secretary Staff Prof. Amit Sharma and Staff Council of the entire college gave emotional farewell to Dr. Usha Uppal.
