Jalandhar 8 November (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar is organizing seventh 5-day INSPIRE Camp. In this camp, 246 students from 19 different schools across Punjab are taking part. The Chief Guest for the inaugural session was Prof. Dr. R.K. Mahajan (Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar). Sh. Chander Mohan (President Arya Shiksha Mandal) was the presiding dignitary. Dr. Susham Chawla an acclaimed gynaecologist and Vice President, KMV Managing Committee and Dr. Sushma Chopra a leading Doctor and Secretary,KMV Managing Committee were the Guests of Honour. Principal of KMV Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the guests and the participants. Madam Principal throws light on the purpose of INSPIRE and laid emphasis on the importance of Science in daily life. Prof. R.K. Mahajan said that the purpose of this programme is to inspire students to choose science as a career. Sh. Chander Mohan said that five principles of success are – Hardwork, Discipline, Gain Knowledge, Learn to express yourself and be good to other students. Dr. Sushma Chawla said that one should utilize one’s education in the service of humanity. Dr. Sushma Chopra said that five D’s are very important in life-Dream, Decide, Determination, Dedication and Deadline. Dr. Manmohan Singh extended a formal Vote of Thanks. After the inauguration session a technical session was organized in which Dr. Venu Gopal (TATA Institute of Fundamental Sciences & Research, Mumbai) participated as Guest Speaker. He throw a light on the topic of energy alternatives and material for future. He also discussed various opportunities in basic science. After lunch an experimental workshop ‘Fun with Physics’ was organized in which students learnt various experiments of Physics in an interesting manner. This camp provides an apt platform for healthy interactions among mentors and students.
