Jalandhar 7 December (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar teaching students through methods other than routine class-room teaching is a frequent practice. Industrial visits fall in the category of unconventional teaching practices. The students of the KMV Department of Bio-informatics visited NIPER, Mohali recently. They interacted with seasoned scientists present there. A lot of practical information was imparted to the group of students regarding instruments used in NIPER for research purpose. The highlight of the visit was Pharmaceutical Heritage Centre where the students got to see various ancient equipment and materials like gems, snake skins, Rudraksh, Tortoise skin sheets and other similar materials used for medicinal purposes. The collection of literature about alopathy, Ayurveda was overwhelming and opened newer vistas of knowledge for the young scholars. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Department of Bioinformatics for having organized such a fruitful venture. She was sure that such activities would open newer horizons for the present generation scholars.
