Jalandhar 21 January (Gurkirat Singh)- On the second day of the conference at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya during the Valedictory Ceremony, Former Vice Chancellor, GNDU Dr. S.P. Singh was the Chief Guest. Prof. Gurbhajan Gill, Famous Poet, Dr. Sarbjeet Sohal from Punjab Sahit Academy, Chandigarh and Dr. Usha Bande, Former Principal, H.P. University were the Guest of Honour. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guests with bouquet of flowers. She said that man is in search of himself. Because of one reason or the other, we have to move abroad. Despite of many luxuries, we still miss our motherland. Impressions of the conference were given by Dr. Baljit Kaur from GNDU, Amritsar and Ms. Priyanka (a student of MA English). On this occasion, 3 books were also released. The first book was ‘Pungarde Harf’ by Nidhi Sharma, who is a student of SSC II at HMV Collegiate School. The second book was ‘England Vich 4 Dahake’ by Manmohan Singh Maheru in which he has recorded his experiences of diaspora. The third book was proceedings of the conference. On this occasion, Chairman LC Retd. Justice Sh. N.K. Sud was also present. Chief Guest Dr. S.P. Singh talked about various phases of Diasporic Punjabi Literature. He congratulated the organizers for organizing International Conference on Diaspora. Dr. Gurbhajan Gill discussed about the problems of Diaspora. Organizing Secretary Mrs. Ramnita Saini Sharda presented Resolutions of the conference and vote of thanks. Stage was conducted by Coordinator English Mrs. Mamta and Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur. Earlier, during the day, 2 parallel planery sessions were conducted in English and Punjabi. English Planery session was conducted by Prof. Z.N. Patil, Former Professor and Head, Department of English, Central English & Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. The chairperson of Punjabi Planery Session was Dr. Inder Verma, Director Doordarshan. Main speakers of the session were Shiromani Sahitkar Sh. Wariyam Sandhu, Editor Nawan Zamana, Mr. Balbir Parwana and Mr. M.S. Maheru. 4 Technical sessions were held which were chaired by Dr. Gurupdesh, Former Professor & Head, Deptt. of English, GNDU Amritsar, Prof. Yojna Rawat, Chairperson, University School of Open Learning, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Mrs. Sarabjeet Kaur Sohal & Mr. Dalbir Nijjar from California, Guest of Honour was Mr. Manmohan Singh Maheru from U.K. In this conference, more than 170 delegates and paper presenters participated. On this occasion, Dr. Adarsh Khanna (HOD English), Mrs. Kawaljit Kaur (HOD Punjabi), Dr. Jyoti Gogia (HOD Hindi), Mrs. Mamta, Mrs. Kranti Wadhwa, Mrs. Navroop, Mrs. Archana Kapoor, Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur, Mrs. Veena Arora and other faculty members were also present.
