HMV and Punjab Sahitya Academy organized National Seminar on Contemporary Punjabi Literature

Jalandhar 9 April (Jaswinder Azad)- A National Seminar on Contemporary Punjabi Literature: Dialogues and Sensitivity was organized by PG Punjabi Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya with the collaboration of Punjab Sahit Academy, Chandigarh.  Renowned Punjabi Writers, Researchers and experts participated in the seminar and discussed upon the present status of Punjabi Literature and suggested the ways for its bright future.  The chief guest of the event were Sh. Satnam Singh Manak, Executive Editor, Rozana Ajit, Dr. Sarabjit Kaur Johal, President Punjab Sahit Academy, Chandigarh, Dr. Kewal Dhaliwal, President, Punjab Sangeet Natak Academy, Chandigarh, Mr. Balwant Bhatia, Associate Member, Punjab Sahit Academy and Mrs. Nirmal Singh, Ex. Head Punjabi Deptt. of HMV.  Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges, DAV CMC was the special guest of the occasion.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen  welcomed the worthy guests with planters and mementoes.  In the welcoming speech, Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen expressed gratitude for the guests and showed concern towards the Punjabi Literature.  She also acclaimed the efforts of Punjabi Department of the college. During the inaugural session, a PPT was also shown depicting the journey of Punjabi Dept. This PPT was prepared by Head Of Dept. Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur and dr. Harjot Kaur.
National Seminar was consisted of three sessions i.e. Poetry Analysis, Story Analysis and Novel Analysis with their respective panel discussions.  Renowned Poets S. Manmohan Singh, Jaswant Deed and Satish Gulati participated in the Poetry session while Dr. Yograj played the role of critic.  In Story session Des Raj Kali, Mukhtar Gill and Dr. Sarghi were the participants and Dr. Guriqbal Singh was the critic of the session. Baldev Singh Sadaknama, Balvir Parwana and Surinder Neer took part in Novel session while Dr. Rajneesh Bahadur Singh played the role of critic.
Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, Director Colleges, DAVCMC congratulated Principal Prof. Dr. Sareen and Punjab Sahit Academy for this initiative of uplifting the Punjabi language.  He also promised to provide help for such events in future.  Sh. Satnam Singh Manak motivated the students to read more and more Punjabi Literature apart from their prescribed syllabus.  He highlighted the importance of reading literature.  Dr. Sarabjit Johal advised to think in innovative way to promote Punjabi Literature so that students could be attracted towards it.  Mr. Kewal Dhaliwal showed his concern on degrading sensitivity amongst artists and writers.  He urged them to always think with heart.
The stage was conducted by Mrs. Navroop Kaur, Associate member Punjab Sahit Academy, Chandigarh, Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur Athwal, Mrs. Veena Arora and Dr. Harjot Kaur.  In the last, Mrs. Navroop thanked the guests on behalf of HMV and expressed her gratitude.  On this occasion, Local Committee members Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Dr. Pawan Gupta, Dr. Sushma Chawla, Sh. Ashok Paruthi, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. SAnjeev Sood, Mr. Satish Gulati, Mr. Surinder Neer, Mrs. Tejinder Shahi, Principal Jatinder Sharma, Mrs. Veena Williams also graced the occasion.  Mrs. Satinder Kaur, Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Ms. Sukhwinder Kaur, Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur, Ms. Jaswinder Kaur, Ms. Manpreet Kaur and other faculty members from various departments were also present.
