Jalandhar 17 October (Jaswinder Azad)- "Through this book fair, a small effort has been made to connect students to books. The interest that students have shown in this two-day book fair is definitely auspicious sign."--Librarian Naveen Saini. He said that the book is the best companion of a human being. The country can learn all the things from the world through books, understand and create an idea for yourself. Considering the importance of books, Lajpat Rai Library of DAV College, Jalandhar organised a book exhibition on 16-17 October. This book exhibition, organized in the college, was inaugurated by Justice NK Sood, chairman of Local Advisory Committee of the college , Dr. S. K. Arora, Principal of DAV College, Jalandhar and Librarian Naveen Saini. This exhibition was very successful. The highlight of this book exhibition was that in this exhibition books based on all kinds of topics were exhibited. In this exhibition, different book sellers participated. These book sellers brought books of many publications with them. These books were in Hindi and English languages. But there was a plurality of English-language books. In this book exhibition, the students of the college, teachers took part in the expanses. Heads of different departments recommended many books according to their ideas for the library of the institute. Dr. Sanjeev Dhawan of Economics Department also suggested the books recommended by students for the library. Various students studying in the college also participated in this book exhibition. They also bought many books. A student of coolege who looking for her own kind of book, said, "This book exhibition is very good. It's great to be here. There are some books that Bookshops do not have. I have bought "Research Methods" by Cooper.
Rajan of "Rajat Book Service" from book sellers who brought books of many publications in the exhibition told that the exhibition was very good. A lot of books were recommended for the library. Also, many students bought books. Congratulating the librarian Naveen Saini on the success of this exhibition, Principal Dr. S. K. Arora said in a survey conducted by the National Book Trust in 2009, only 25% of the total literate youth in the country read books And the funny thing is that 8-18% of the youth is motivated to read on the advice of their parents. It is a worrisome situation that the trend of reading a book among the youth of the country is decreasing. One reason for this is the development of technology. Now most people have started reading books in the web or in Kindle. But it is also true that new publications are coming out today. Which proves that the world of books can not be seen weakening.
Addressing the students, Librarian Naveen Saini said that such a book exhibition will benefit students and book lovers greatly. This book exhibition makes us to take a walk of world. Book Exhibition brings such knowledge to us that keeps exploring our lives. There is no better friend than books for students. Students should study books in addition to their curriculum.These books will help students to prepare for knowledge and competitive exams. In this book exhibition, when students were asked what they think of the book exhibition, their response was that the experience of this exhibition organized in the college is very good. Even in the figures, the trend of reading a book in public appeared less but by the visit of students and teachers in this exhibition, it can be said that the world of books is unique and everybody in this unique world want to live.
