5-DAY INSPIRE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM to be organised by KANYA MAHA VIDYALAYA -The Autonomous & Heritage Institution, JALANDHAR from 30th January-3rd February 2018

Jalandhar 27 January (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar-The Autonomous & Heritage Institution is going to organise 8th five day INSPIRE CAMP from January 30th  to February 3rd , 2018. This camp will be attended by 203 students of XI class selected from 14 schools across Punjab. These students are top 1% students of each board.  The five-day camp will include lectures, interactions, Physics, Chemistry and Maths workshops, quiz competitions as well as explorations.
Throwing light on INSPIRE Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV averred that Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi is a program launched by the Government of India to inspire students into natural science streams and to strengthen the National Science and Technology base in India. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) aims to attract talented students and motivate them to study science by providing a Science INSPIRE camp for toppers in Class X Board – 2017 examinations, on condition that they are presently pursuing science in XI  standard.
She further maintained that mentors for INSPIRE science camp are Academy Fellows and Scientists of international and national repute. The camp will be a ground for healthy interaction between the mentors and the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joys of innovation across all streams of science that in turn would stimulate their curiosity and attract them at an early age to pursue their career in science.The students will be given exposure as the invited fellows will interact with the students through lectures and personal interactive sessions in an exclusive set up in the camp.
Some  of the mentors who will be present for the occasion are  Dr. A.K. Bakshi, Vice Chancellor, PDM, Bahadurgarh; Dr. L.S. Shasidhara, IISER, Pune; Dr. A.S. Ahluwalia; Dept of Botany, Punjab University; Maj Gen (retd) Prof G.G. Dwivedi, Aligarh Muslim University; Dr. B.S. Kaith, Dept of Chemistry, NIT, Jal; Dr. Karmeshu, Dept of Maths, DU, Delhi; Dr. N.C. Kothiyal, Dept of Zoology, GNDU, Amritsar; Dr. Dinesh Khurana, Dept of Maths, PU, Chd;  Dr. Rajwant Dhami, DST, New Delhi; Dr. Yogesh Singh, C-DAC, Pune, Dr. Sanjeev from Thapar University, Patiala; Dr. Arvind Gupta from IIT, Ropar; Dr. Aneesh Dua, Dept of Zoology, GNDU, Amritsar and Dr. G.S. Sodhi, Dept of Chemistry, Khalsa College, Delhi.
We have lectures on various topics which include use of Vedic Mathematics in daily life, use of Number Theory and Mathematical Problems in different fields of Science, human story about how man reached the present state after series of innovations from stone age to iron age and then from silicon revolution, computer age to present age, history of Mathematical Problems, role of Bioinformatics, Bio Physics among others.
The camp is going to provide an apt platform for healthy interactions among mentors and students. Students will be apprised with many research fields and research facilities available in top Indian scientific institutions.
Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi further adumbrated that Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar Division has kindly consented to grace the Inaugural Session of INSPIRE on January 30, 2018 as the Chief Guest. Mr Alok Sondhi, General Secretary Arya Shiksha Mandal will preside over the same and Dr. Sushma Chopra, leading doctor & Secretary, KMV Managing Committee will be the Guest of Honour for the same.
It is worth a mention here that KMV-The Heritage Institution was the first college in this part of the region to organise the Inspire Camp way back in 2011. This initiative of organising the first INSPIRE Camp has been inspiring for many other educational institutions of the region and has motivated them to follow our lead and organise INSPIRE camps.
