In the convocation ceremony of DAV College, Jalandhar 1144 students received degree

Jalandhar 29 March (Gurkirat Singh)- The college's annual convocation was organized at the College Auditorium in which Dr. R.S. Sharma, General  Secretary, DAV Managing Committee, New Delhi was present as Chief Guest, whose heartfelt acceptance was made by local committee's president, Retired Justice N. K. Sood, Former Chairman Mr. Kundan Lal Agarwal, Mr. Arvind Ghai from Local Management, Former Director Colleges Dr. ML Ari, Principal, Dr. S. K. Arora, Vice Principal Prof VK Sareen, Vice Principal Prof  T.D. Saini, Registrar Prof. Arun Mehra, Local Advisory Committee members Prof Kamaldeep and Dr Manu Sood, Staff Secretary Pro. Sharad Manocha, Joint Staff Secretary Prof. Amit Sharma, Public Relations Officer Prof. Manish Khanna and other Staff Members. In the convocation, 1144 students and students were given degrees, out of which about 611 were commerce graduates and were post graduates. Dr. R.S Sharma observed strong zeal and positivy in college campus, after which Dr. Sharma said that he was very pleased by visiting the college. After this, Dr. R.S. Sharma inaugurated the 'Centenary Seminar Hall' dedicated to the centenary of the college. Then Dr. R.S. Sharma went to the College Auditorium for Convocation ceremony where everyone stood up and welcomed him with applause. The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. RS Sharma, Principal Dr. Arora, Chairman of the Local Management Committee, and other civics present there by lightning the lamp. After this Saraswati Vandana was done by the college students. On this occasion, Principal Dr. S. K. Arora welcomes all the dignitaries who came there. He said It is very fortunate to have Dr RS Sharma as chief guest of this convocation ceremony. Dr. Sharma is the General Secretary of the DAV Managing Committee, New Delhi. Apart from this, he has also been a former Principal of this college. In his time, this college earned a lot of name. Due to his inspiration, today this college is known for its higher education in India. After that he read of college. He said that NAAC has presented this college with the status of Best Co-Educational College. It is a family of 7200 students and 500 teachers. DAV College maintains an excellent place in the field of education. No merit list of university is complete without students of DAV college, Jalandhar. This college keeps the golden history of providing excellent sports to the country. To date, 18 Olympics, 8 Arjuna awards, 2 Dronacharya award winners have been received from this college. Late Mr. Jagjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Diljan, Narinder Pandit and Hans Raj Hans exemplary artists of this college. Addressing the students further, the Principal Dr. Arora said that it is not only a degree for the students, but the award of many hard work in their college days. The dreams you have dreamt at your college are the first stop to complete them. He gave students the basics of seeing big goals and dreams, saying that you are the future of this nation, this country is on the shoulders of you. So, when you see big dreams, then this country will progress. After this, Chief Guest Dr. R.S Sharma addressing the students said, "I am happy to congratulate all of you with all my heart and wish you all the best to get the degree of hard work. There is an opportunity to go to many places but it needs a good fortune to go to the convocation at the college's centenary year. The seed that Pandit Mehrchand ji  sowed 100 years ago became a huge tree of knowledge, science inspiration today. He said, "Who are great men, how they actually are?" In our era, if we call a person as a man with great vision and great distinction, we won't come to know the difference between vision and distinction. But if you see this work of Pandit Mehrchand ji 100 years ago, then it is known that who is called a visionary person. In that era of slavery, making the future dreams of the nation come true and taking particular steps for the future of nation was done by Pandit Mehrchand ji. Dr. Sharma said that the British used to rule here, they were also building the Universities. But in most presidencies like Kolkata and Mumbai. They wanted to educate humans in such a way that their business continues for a long time. Pandit Mehrchand Ji wanted to prepare those great men who embrace India's great traditions, stood up for the freedom of India in the nation's formation, standing with the strength and standing on the basis of knowledge. This dream was observed by Mahatma ji. Dr. Sharma further added that in last 100 years this college has given the nation lakhs of educated persons that includes teachers, doctors, engineers, civil servants and business who proudly call themselves as the alumni this great institution. In the end of hus speech, he congratulated the students on receiving degrees. Registrar of college Prof Arun Mehra requested principal to declare the convocation ceremony open. After which, Principal Dr SK Arora said, "I declare convocation open" and the ceremony started. Chief guest Dr RS Sharma along with Principal Dr SK Arora presented degrees to students. Professor of computer science department Dr Kanwaljit Kaur was also honoured for completing Ph.d. During the ceremony, student of college Kasham sung Ghazal "Yeh kon aa gyi hau Dilruba Mahki Mehki" and made environment happy. During this time, Prof Sharad Manocha conducted the stage and Vote of Thanks was given by Prof SS Randhawa. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. During this time, special invitees from the other colleges,Alumni RK Gupta, Principal Ravinder Sharma, Mr. S. P. Sahdev, Principal Manoj Arora Daviet, Principal C.L. Kochhar, Shri Ajay Goswami, Principal Ajay Sareen, Principal Navjot Kaur, Principal Dr. AL Sangal, Principal Raj Kumar Sehgal and college group Teaching and non-teaching staff were also present in the function.
