Jalandhar 11 April (Jaswinder Azad)- PG Department of Commerce and Management of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized one day National Workshop on Intellectual Property Laws: Know our Rights in collaboration with Jalandhar Chapter of NIRC of Institutes of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). Coordinator of the programme Mrs. Meenu Kohli formally welcomed the resource persons – IP and CS Amit Vinayak, a corporate Lawyer, CS Dr. Vanita Khanna, CS Pallavi, CS Manpreet Singh and CS Mohit Saliya. College Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen acknowledged the efforts made by HOD Dr. Kanwaldeep and other members of PG Deptt. of Commerce and Management and welcomed the galaxy of resource persons with planters and mementoes. She said that every person has got some kind of innovation in their minds. One should convert their ideas into reality. Organizing Secretary Mrs. Binoo Gupta said that it is the need of the hour to understand Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and encourage creative endeavour in public interest. She further told that this workshop was attended by 225 delegates. Giving the keynote address, IP and CS Amit Vinayak, Chairman Jalandhar Chapter of NIRC of ICSI, on the topic ‘Practical aspects of IPR Laws’, said that value is brand and is represented by its Ambassador. Trademark, Copyrights, Patents are the branches of IPR and gives exclusive rights to the inventors or idea owners. He also gave examples of famous cases like ‘Saregama V/s Youtube’. In Technical Session I, CS Dr.Vanita Khanna addressed on the topic ‘IPR – Indian and Global aspects’. She said that human beings are most intellectual creature and have the power to create and invent various creations, books, articles, etc. IPRs are there for protecting the innovation. She also told about the inventions which are not patentable. Every person can have the copyright for his whole life and even after death for 60 years. CS Pallavi explained that trademarks are the outcome of competitive practices and it creates the image of product in the mind of public. She also explained about the registration of Trademarks. In second technical session, CS Manpreet Singh threw light on the registration procedure of IPRs by performing some online steps. He also discussed about the categories of trademarks. Vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Binoo Gupta. The members of Organizing Committee were Dr. Seema Khanna, Mrs. Meenu Kundra and Mrs. Savita Mahendru. The stage was conducted by Dr. Minakshi Duggal, Ms. Karishma and Km. Mansi of B.Com. Sem. VI. On this occasion, Mrs. Yuvika, Mrs. Ritu Bahri, Mrs. Kanika, Mrs. Aashima, Mrs. Aanchal, Mrs. Anuradha, Ms. Bhawna, Ms. Sonam, Ms. Priyanka, Ms. Tanvi, Ms. Anjali, Ms. Talwinder were present.
