KMV makes Colossal Contribution To Swachh Bharat Summer Internship,2018-

A Joint Venture of Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation
Jalandhar 26 July (Jaswinder Azad)- Swachh Bharat Summer Internship-2018, a scheme jointly launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation is being run at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar. The programme aims to develop the skills and orientation of youth for sanitation related work and to integrate youth in the community service in rural areas.This scheme also provide an opportunity to youth for making significant contribution the swachhta  revolution. About 100 students (all streams) of KMV, 10 students each under one Nodal Officer got themselves registered in the month of May. Under this scheme a programme was organized at village Mubarakpur Sheikhe, a village adopted by NSS Unit. In this programme 50 students under 6 nodal officers, 10 students each under one nodal officer participated in various activities like awareness campaigns, cleanliness drive, tree plantation etc with full zeal.  Under the awareness campaigns students of primary school were informed about the value of clean drinking water. They were also shown short  movies related to sanitation and special lectures were organized on importance of washing hands. Door-to-door visits were carried out by students to create awareness among the villagers. 30 plants were planted inside and outside school campus and each student of the village school was given the responsibility of taking care of the plants. The principal of the Primary school Mrs. Ravinder Kaur, faculty members, the chairperson of the school and the Sarpanch of the village were of great help in the success of the programme. Principal KMV, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated nodal officers Mrs. Ashima Sahni, Dr. Sonik Bhatia, Ms. Shikha Vashist, Dr. Iqbal Singh and Ms. Ramanpreet for organizing such a meaningful programme. She also applauded the efforts made by students under this program.
