Jalandhar 26 July (Jaswinder Azad)- The fourth day of DST sponsored Inspire Internship Science Camp organized at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya was graced by the presence of District Science Supervisor Mr. Baljinder Singh and Mr. Ramandeep, Principal Meritorious School Jalandhar, Dr. Daisy and R. Batish, Professor Deptt. of Botany, Panjab Univ. The guests were given a warm welcome by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Coordinator Collegiate School and Dr. Jitender Kumar, Coordinator Inspire Camp. Principal Dr. Sareen addressed the students and encouraged them to make efforts for fulfilling their dreams.
The day hosted the enthralling lectures by Dr. Daisy R. Batish, Professor, Deptt. of Botany, Panjab University Chandigarh. She is the recipient of young scientist award in the Environmental Sciences and an award for excellence in research by UGC.
Dr. Batish interacted with the students and talked about creating awareness regarding Biodiversity. She discussed the richness of biodiversity. She discussed the richness of biodiversity and the causes of its rapid loss, which is accelerated by anthropogenic activities.
The pre-lunch session was conducted by Dr. Sher Ali, Professor Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and former Head Molecular Genetics Division National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. Mrs.Saloni Sharma introduced the guests to the students.
Dr. Sher Ali delivered the lecture on sperm genome and human health telling about the analysis of sperm genome. The students were delighted to know about the genome variations, sperm RNA contribution etc.
These thought provoking lectures helped to foster the interest of students in the field of biology and research. On this occasion, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Mrs. Purnima Sharma, Mrs. Asha Gupta, Mr. Sumit Sharma, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Mrs. Ramandeep were also present.
