Jalandhar 10 August (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya - the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar firming roots in rich traditions is a routine .Teej was celebrated to mark the traditional welcome of monsoon by one and all of the KMV Fraternity . The Function was organized by The P.G. Dept. of Punjabi and the Dept. of E.C.A. Honored Guests on the occasion were Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President , KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chopra, Secretary, KMV Managing Committee and Dr. Kamal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee. They all accorded a warm floral welcome. The environment throbbed with folk dance performance and rendering of folk songs by the students. Adding rich hues to the occasion were multiple stalls of mehndi, eatables, photography etc all. Dr. Iqbal Kaur & Dr. Harpreet Kaur from PG Department of Punjabi apprised the students regarding the significance of Teej in our culture. The festival is dedicated to daughters and sisters who visit their parents during the onsets of monsoon. It is secular in nature and is celebrated in Punjab by women of all faiths. Traditionally it lasts from the third day of the bought half of month of sawan to the full moon sawan. Swings are hung on tree and women dress specially and eat delicious. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulations the organizers on making students connected to their roots by celebrating such functions.
