Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s Wood Carving Camp

Jalandhar 25 May (Jaswinder Azad)- The fourth day of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar’s Wood Carving Camp witnessed the transcendence of creative skills of the artists like Basudeb Biswas and Narender Singh. The eminent artist Basudeb Biswas’s artistic works depicted the beauty of female persona. The unblemished, straight and long necks of females stand as a beacon of inspiration in his works. His works are recognized widely by many distinguished institutions like Rabindra Bhawan, New Delhi, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, New Delhi and the list goes on. Mr. Biswas is the only artist of Punjab whose works are selected nine times by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi for National level exhibitions. In this workshop, he is carving an image of Hellenic beauty of female persona whose neck and face are inspirited by Peacock and Squirrel respectively.
Another illustrious participant of this workshop is Mr. Narinder Singh who has carved 87 works till date out of which 36 are related to Ek Onkar, a prominent symbol of Sikhism. His works are received with great applause and he has received many glorious awards like Life Time Achievement Award by Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar and Artist of the Year Award in Delhi International Film Festival, Silver Plaque Award etc. He said in this workshop he is working on abstract forms which are inspired by the concepts of continuity and infinity. Principal Dr. Sucharita profoundly applauded the talents of the participants and said art is quite infinite and these artists are setting high standards of this fact through their works.
