Jalandhar 3 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Science faculty of Autonomous and Heritage Institution, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar commemorated National Science day under DBT Star College Scheme on the theme Science and Technology for Sustainable Development. The Event began with the powerpoint presentation by students on Innovative ideas for sustainable development. Resource person, Dr. Atul Khanna, Prof, Dept. of Physics, GNDU, Amritsar, Shared his incisive views on the topic 'Role of Science and Technology in Sustainable Development' with special reference to renewable energy resources. He said that present era is the era of globalization, competition and innovation where science and technology plays its pivotal role. He discussed how scientific revolution has outpaced social resolution for over a Century now and the various inventions and discoveries in science and technology like electricity, DNA, logic circuits and many more which have made our lives very comfortable and easier. He emphasized that despite all these advances in science and technology there is imbalance, inequality and conflicts in the society that lead to the over consumptions of the recourses thus leading to Un-sustainability. He threw light on the role of Science and Technology in controlling pollution created by USA like E-waste So, he stressed up on the need to extensively use of renewable energy resources like Solar panels, hydroelectricity etc. He ended his talk with the words that, a problem can never be solved at the level at which it started but in order to solve it, we have to rise above the level of problem. Dr. Updesh Kaur expressed gratitude towards the worthy resource person and the organizing team for the success of the event. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of the science faculty for the successful organization of the event.
