The sixth day of Wood Carving Camp of Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar 28 May (Jaswinder Azad)- The sixth day of Wood Carving Camp of Apeejay College of Fine Arts was celebrated with the splendid presentations of distinguished artists Mohinder Kumar Mastana and Vivekananda Kapri. Professor Mohinder Kumar Mastana has roots in Himachal Pradesh but for a long time he is giving his services in Apeejay College’s Department of Sculpture. His works have the glory of being displayed in Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai which is a matter of pride for any artist. He extended his views that he belongs to an agricultural family but he was keenly interested in artistic works since his childhood so he adopted it as a career. He has received State Award for 2014-15, All India Level Award 2016 etc. His art captures the very soul of sensitiveness and emotions. In this workshop, he is making an idol of a Pujari.
Another part taker of the workshop, Vivekananda Kapri has been associated with Shanti Niketan. His works have been displayed at various exhibitions like Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh, Academy of Fine Arts, Exhibition in Rotary Club, Guwahati, Art Exhibition, West Bengal etc. His works portray the compassion of Mother and Kid’s relationship and even in this workshop he is foreshadowing the sensitiveness of this relationship.
Principal Dr. Sucharita felt astonished to see the works of all the artists and expressed that an artist always possesses some supernatural power in his hands which makes him express the cruxes of life in his works which is beyond the reach of common man.
