Jalandhar 12 September (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar organized ‘Hindi Samarpan Samaroh’ dedicated to the spirit of the language. The Chief Guest, Sh. Chander Mohanji, President Arya Shiksha Mandal, the acclaimed writer Sh. Suresh Seth ji, the inaugural speaker Sh. Avdesh Kumar, AGM, BSNL, Delhi and the key-note speaker Prof. Vimlesh Kanti Verma, Former Director, Hindi Academy, Delhi were accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. The College Principal, Prof. Atima Shara familiarized the distinguished guests with the rich legacy and heritage of the institution which has played a pivotal role in women empowerment through higher education. She emphasized the need of blending knowledge with technology in Hindi language through making constant endeavours.
The key-note speaker Sh. Avdesh Kumar, Deputy Director, BSNL, Delhi expressed his views on the evolutionary and dynamic aspect of Hindi language through its computerized. He expressed his grave concern over the popular use of Hinglish on various mediums of social media like google, whatsapp, internet and the declining interest of students in the language. The renowned academician and journalist, Prof. Suresh Seth, in his presidential address stressed upon the need of harmonizing language and literature for restoring hindi to its rightful place. He expressed his deep satisfaction over the fact that no matter how advanced technology may become but it can newer replace or substitute creative writer and thinkers.
Dr. Vinlesh Kanti, Former Hindi Academy, Delhi also voiced his concern strongly over the marginalization of regional language owing to the world wide acceptance of English global as language. He opined that academic institutions govt. as well as private have also downplayed the status of Hindi which can definitely be uplifted through translation works among various variants of Hindi.
The Chief Guest Sh. Chander Mohanji briefed the august gathering that KMV has adopted two ideals given by Swami Dayanand. The institution ever since its inception in 1886 has been a erusader of women education and its recognition at the international level bespeaks of that. But sadly enough, the second ideal of promoting hindi suffered a setback due to the educational policy adopted since the times of Macaulary. This British system has given step-motherly treatment to hindi as a language and its users. The activities of the day came to a close with the singing of National Anthem. Various students were given away prizes in various categories of events like Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Wall Magazine and Research Paper Writing held to commemorate Hindi Diwas. The Head of PG Dept. of Hindi Dr. Vinod Kalra expressed her heart-feet gratitude to the erudite speakers and scholars.
