Thousands participate in race for Charity at 10th CT Half Marathon

  • Renowned Bollywood Actress Elli Avram, Centenarian
  • Marathon Runner Fauja Singh and Punjabi Singer A-Kay flagged off the race from CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus.
  • The first prize was of Rs. 25,000 (Male & Female both), second prize was Rs. 11,000 (Male & Female both), third prize was Rs. 5,100 (Male & Female both).
  • Participants from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and other states run for the charity at the half marathon.
Jalandhar 5 March (Jaswinder Azad)- The skies were pleasant for the annual 10th CT Half Marathon runners on Sunday morning  and the enthusiasm was also bright as thousands of people participated in the race for charity. The participants from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and other states run for the noble cause at the half marathon organised by CT Group which was flagged off by Renowned Bollywood Actress Elli Avram, Centenarian Marathon Runner Fauja Singh and Punjabi Singer A-Kay at CT Shahpur Campus. In the half marathon sports persons to senior citizens to Olympians, artists, players and also physically challenged persons joined.
There were the LIVE performances by Leading Punjabi stars Master Saleem, Jenny Johal, Manna Mand, Bura Purewal at CT Maqsudan Campus. RJ Pak Pak Deepak and others celebrity Radio Jockeys from Radio Mirchi mesmerized the audience with their wonderful hosting and performances.
This commendable noble attempt on the part of CT Group has also encouraged the physically challenged students from Prayas (a School for Special students) and Apahaj Asharam to partake in the race. There was a special 100 m race for the students of ‘Prayas’ at CT Maqsudan Campus also organised.
Giving information, Mr. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) said that the raised funds will be donated to Prayas School, Pingalwara and Red Cross Society. He said, “The event has been successful from last nine years that helped us to collect funds for the deprived and needy at the same time it gives a combine platform to many for the noble
cause.”
During previous years, we had Ace Athlete S. Milkha Singh, Legendary Singer Gurdas Maan, Bollywood Actress Neha Dhupia, Renowned Singer Jazzy B, Indian and various other famous celebrities those who not only graced the event with presence but also flagged off the marathon, made their presence felt by taking part in the running spree.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) said congratulated the winners and expressed his gratitude towards everyone volunteer who have taken the event on an another level of success with their support and participation.
The event was huge sum of Cash prize for the winners. The first prize was of Rs. 25,000 (Male & Female both), second prize was Rs. 11000 (Male & Female both), third prize was Rs. 5,100 (Male & Female both) and 7 consolation prizes of Rs. 2100.  There was FIRST AID and other medical assistance for the runners by the students and staff members of CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CTIPS) and doctors from renowned hospitals registered their presence at every 1 Km of the race.
