Jalandhar 13 October (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya declared the Heritage Institution by (Ministry of Human Resource Development) has been the cradle of women education and empowerment for the last three decades, since its inception in 1886 (the pre-independence era). It was the first institution to get affiliated to the 2Pb(G) BN NCC and the Jalandhar Group. The college has a firing range which is maintained jointly by the college and the unit and used regularly for practice and competitions on various occasion. The response of NCC cdts during annual training camps is exemplary. They have also attended various camps like NIC, trekking ALC, RDC Base camp. The college hosted annual CATC in June 2016 and the state-of-the-art infrastructure was appreciated by one and all S/UoSimranKaur won the Best cadet competition 2013. She was awarded Rs. 3000/- she also won the NCC National Games Shooting Championship 2013 S/UoSimran has just returned after completing TSC 2016 in Oct 2016. The TSC team of the directorate has won the first position in the inter-directorate championship 2016. The college is proud to be associated with the unit 2Pb(G) BN NCC Jal which has been nurturing young women’s dream to be army officers, IPS Officers and above all ideal citizens in whom patriotism is reflected. The college NCC incharge who also received award of Excellence Lt. Ms. SeemaArora has been serving the unit since 1998 and has been motivating students to participate in various camps. The last five years have seen the strength of the unit double from 55 to 110. With the kind consent and co-operation of the college management and under the dynamic guidance of Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi the unit has been making best endeavours to promote NCC. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Jalandhar Group commander Brigadier Ms. Parmar for having initiated the new motivating routine of encouraging the institutions which do well in NCC giving them Award of Excellence and also honouring the Associate NCC Officers with Award of Excellence.
