Faculty Development and Student Orientation Workshop on Textile and Natural Dyes at KMV

Jalandhar 9 May (Jaswinder Azad)- Textile is a fast growing field wherein strides are being made for futuristic dyeing but at the same time an indication towards the erstwhile natural dyeing is being observed. Keeping this paradigm in mind a faculty development and student orientation workshop on Textile and Natural Dyes was organised by P.G. Dept. of Fashion Designing of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar for the students of M.Sc. (FD) and B. Voc. in Textile Design and Apparel Technology. The resource person for this workshop was the very accomplished and erudite scholar, Dr. Priyadarshni Jaruhar, Principal KC Institute of Research and Professional Institutes, Una. He has a number of international and national papers to his credits and is an alumnae of NIT, Jalandhar. He demonstrated the method of Acidic Dyeing of silk and wool, Direct and Basic dyeing of cotton and clarified the fundamental of natural dyeing with turmeric, Indigo, Pomegranate skin etc. besides sulphur dyeing. Principal , Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi who always encourages the staff to polish and upgrade their skills, congratulated the faculty of the department on this accomplishment and encouraged them to further hone their skills.
