Ludhiana 1 October (Jaswinder Azad)- Beginning a week long Festaweek at PCTE Baddowal, a Nukkad Natak, which is the first event of Koshish, was staged at Rakh Bagh today. 9 teams participated and competed to each other. They raised various social issues related to Independence, poverty, role of media in society etc. The students started preparing for their acts a month back and have put in a lot of hard work. All teams were dressed similar in their teams to show unity and harmony. Participating for the first time, Karan Chopra, a first year student of Journalism said, “I never did acting before. Participating in this street play event for the very first time helped me in exploring my inner capabilities and flair of acting. Winning and losing is secondary, participating was must for me.”
Sharing his experience, another student Rajan Bhamra from BBA-2 said, “The experience of participating in Nukkad Natak taught me various skills like management, acting and coordination. Also, witnessing other teams was a wonderful experience and the true credit goes to our faculty members who are a source of inspiration to us.”
The residents on the spot got together once students started their performance. A housewife who was there with her son said, “I have seen two performances and was surprised to know that this form of art is still alive and students were quite studious and into their characters while performing. College has taken a great initiative in brining the students on the streets and spreading awareness.”
Dr. K.N.S. Kang, Director General said that this is for the first time that Nukkad Natak event has taken on to the streets. He further added, “The major reason behind taking this decision was to spread awareness in public about various social evils going in the society. Also, the students participated have put in their best efforts from the script writing to enacting the same. This is one of the significant traditional art forms of theater. There are many more interesting and learning events which will take place in the entire week long festaweek.”
