Jalandhar 1 October (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar’s the Gandhian Studies Centre is totally and exclusively committed to the promotion of the study & research about the life value and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, the revered Father of the Nation. The Gandhian Studies Centre celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing a number of competitions on the occasion. The college also donated table and chairs to a charitable school to mark the occasion. The school has been adopted by the Centre and is continuously helped by the resources available to it. Paying rich tributes to the great leader, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi exhorted the students to imbibe the qualities of patience, tolerance and empathy which were integral to the nature of the Mahatma. She also appreciated the work of the Gandhian Studies Centre which was actively involved in spreading Gandhian values in the various section of the society. The centre is also constantly working for the upliftment of the girls and women of the weaker sections of the society. It also provides a platform to the Gandhian Studies Scholars across the nation to share their knowledge about the iconic leader and its relevance in the present scenario. She lauded the work of Dr. Monica Sharma, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre and other members of the Department for and their consistent endeavours in promoting Gandhian ideas.
