World’s Aids Day in Eklavya School, Jalandhar

Jalandhar 2 December (Jaswinder Azad)- On 1st December 16, World Aids was observed in Eklavya School, Jalandhar. The purpose of observing such day is to raise awareness of the fact that It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.
The day was started with a speech by Heena Arora (9th Std.) in the morning assembly. The students were told the reason for observing this day as International Day. A beautiful dance performance on “Love You Zindagi’ mesmerized everybody. Different activities were performed by the students. The children did poster making and slogan writing on ‘Aids Day’. Various human rights were discussed among the students. Some of the children wrote poems on ‘solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV’. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show support to and. Wearing a red ribbon is one simple way to do this. So the students and educators were all wearing red ribbon on this day.
The Director of the school, Ms. Seema Handa said that such kind of days should be observed as these are informative and bring awareness among the youth. The Manager, Ms Sapna Bakshi and the Principal, Ms Dimpal Sharma appreciated the activities conducted by the students on this day.
