Jalandhar 19 January (Jaswinder Azad)- DAV College again showcased its charms, this time in Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-College Football Championship where the team players brought the beautiful trophy home. This competition was organised in Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. Football Championship held under Guru Nanak Dev University, had DAV College Jalandhar as a winner, where players of the team showcased their talent and scored the first position. In the final match held between Guru Nanak College Phugwara and DAV College Jalandhar, our college team had a tremendous win, with the match score of 6-0.
In the knock-out rounds DAV College had to face Ramgariya College Phugwara were the college won by 4-1 and made a spectacular entry in the league. This streak off winning was continued when the college team gave a befitting match to Guru Nanak College Phugwara with the score board showing 6-0 in the final match of championship.
After hearing this great news Principal Dr S.K.Arora said that games like this bring the sportsmanship in student life. We should give more importance to these programs and games so that the present generation can stay away from influence of drugs and other trans causing product and can live a happy and a clean life. It is thing to be noted that football as a game doesn’t have much fame as others, it's craze is mostly found in South Indian part of the country. However this energetic game of football is equally respected in our college, all the resources to play this game is provided to the players. Principal Arora believes that this game got a bright future, he also wishes that a national level team of this game will be made, where maximum player of the team will be from our college. He said” It is a matter of pride that our students are best in the field. As the new principal of College I want to make it clear that I will do my very best to take this college to new level of heights and fame”.
Principal Arora congratulated Dr Manu Soodh(HOD Physical Education), team captain Luvpreet, vice-captain Sandeep Singh, Team coach Amanpreet and Amandeep,Prof Saurabh Raj,Prof Mohit and the whole team.
Dr Manu Soodh (HOD Physical Education) expressed his emotion stating that “ You players has proclaimed this position with lots and lots of hard-work and dedication. These students not only held high the name of our college but also of their own parents. I had trust on the whole team, specially during the. Yes I’m proud of my boys”.
