Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar celebrated sixty-eighth Republic day

Jalandhar 21 January (Gurkirat Singh)- Post Graduate Department of History, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar celebrated sixty-eighth Republic day on its campus. Department students participated in a number of activities like debate, poster making and declamation. Patriotic songs were sung by the students. Head of the department, Dr. Suman Chopra shared the historical past of the Republic day with the students. In her address, she said that on 26 January 1930, Indian National Congress took independence pledge and celebrated Swaraj Day across the country. To mark the historicity of this day, our constitution came into force on 26 January, 1950. On this occasion, stage was anchored by Dr. Karanbir Singh. In the last, Dr. Amandeep Kaur thanked all the assemblage. Highlighting the significant features of India constitution, a procession rally was taken by the students from the department which ended near main gate of the college. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra addressed the students and inspired them to cast their vote. He told the students about the fundamental rights granted by the constitution and advised them to use their right to vote in the forthcoming Punjab assembly elections. He said that being an educated voter it is their duty to select only those candidates who are able to give us good governance. This will be our true tribute to the founding fathers of our constitution. Outside Principal office, to educate the young voters, students carried your vote, your voice signature campaign. It attracted a large number of students.
