Jalandhar 31 January (Jaswinder Azad)- The department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts gave tribute to the renowned artist Amrita Shergill on her birthday by organizing a guest lecture. This lecture was delivered by Dr. Rimpy Agarwal from the department of Fine Arts. She enlightened the students about the glorious journey of Shergill from an artist to a legend. The chief guest of the lecture was Mr. Basudeb Biswas, Head, Department of Sculpture. After this lecture, the students were also shown a film based upon the life of Amrita Shergill. The film showcased the various personalities which inspired Amrita Shergill and how she nurtured her art and style. In this lecture, students from B.A., B.F.A., M.A. (Fine Arts) participated enthusiastically.
On this occasion, Principal, Dr. Sucharita Sharma said that from this guest lecture, students will learn about the intricate nuances of art and style and this legendary figure will surely serve s an inspiration for every budding artist. During this lecture, Ms. Jeevan Kumari, Head, Department of Fine Arts department of Fine Arts and Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Prof. in Fine Arts were also present. Principal, Dr. Sucharita applauded the efforts of the Fine Arts Department for successfully conducting this lecture.
