HMV organised one day workshop on “Energy Conservation & Sustainable Development”

Jalandhar 23 February (Jaswinder Azad)- DD Pant Botanical Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized one day workshop on “Energy Conservation & Sustainable Development”.  Mr.Anil Kumar Kohli from Energy Effeciency & Sustainability Strategic Initiative (EESSI) Company, An accredited Energy auditor from Govt. of India working on Low Green House Gases, GHG Technology for smart cities, smart buildings & Industries, Green Building Trainer was the resource person.  Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guest.  Mr. Anil told the students that air pollution is 7th leading cause of deaths in India.  Out of 20 most polluted cities in the world, 13 are in India and Delhi is at rank 2.  India is also a diabetic capital, 3rd highest number of people living with HIV in world. 1.2 billion poorest (1/3rd of world) live in India.  On an average, we are loosing 3.2 years of our age due to pollution. 1.3 million people die every year due to indoor air pollution.  1235 million people (17%) in India are without access to electricity. He told students how to save electricity, different parameter to check quality of air  & water.  He also told about methods to conserve our renewable resources for sustainable development & future generation.  On this occasion, Incharge of the society Dr. Meena Sharma, Co-incharge Dr. Shaveta, Dean Academics Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dr. Anjna Bhatia, Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Ms. Shallu Batra, Mrs. Shikha & Mrs. Savita Mahendru were also present.
