Seminar on Contemporary Challenges & Prospects of Hindi Journalism at KMV

Jalandhar 8 February (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar intellectual growth and exchange is daily routine.  Recently the PG Dept. of Hindi at KMV in collaboration with the Dept. of Journalism & Mass Communication organized a seminar on the contemporary challenge and prospects of Hindi Journalism.  Renowned Writer, Director and ex-Chief Officer and Director Doordarshan Prof. Dr. Krishan Kumar Rattu came and delivered the key-note address.  Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Hindi Punjab University attended the seminar as the subject-expert.  The day began with a warm fragrant floral welcome of the guests.  Prof. Kirshan Kumar Rattu said that Journalism demanded untiring, dedicated and sincere efforts.  He also asserted that languages was an important and integral part of the field of Journalism and that Hindi which was spoken on daily basis could be a good option for a journalist in Hindi.  He also expressed concern over the quality of language  being used by journalists. He  discussed the prospects of Hindi journalism in the times to come.  Pointing towards socially responsive and sensitive journalism he said that the print media could contribute significantly towards the progress of morality and humanity thereby improving the human civilization.
Dr. Gurmeet said that in every age journalism faced exclusive challenges which could be overcome by self-confidence, sincerity, awareness and proficiency of one’s craft.  Thanking the guest speakers for the occasion Dr. Vinod Kalra, Head, Dept. of Hindi said that all challenges could be faced by inner strength and awareness of one’s surroundings.  All the teachers of PG Dept. of Hindi & Journalism were present on the occasion.  Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the organizers for having conducted the event efficiently.
