500 Degrees and 40 Merit Medals Awarded in Annual Convocation at KMV

Jalandhar 22 April (Bureau)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar holding aloft the torch of enlightenment in the 130th year of its iconic existence, organised its annual convocation function. The Chief Guest of the occasion Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, India, Gen. (Dr.) V.K. Singh (Retd.) was accorded floral felicitations by the college authorities. Welcoming the Chief Guest , Sh. Chander Mohanji, President Arya Shiksha Mandal, expressed his deep gratitude on the maiden visit of the Former Army Chief  to the Heritage Instituion and gracing the convocation. He extolled Gen. Singh by quoting Primeministrial remarks and salutation for having accomplished his operation ‘Raahat’ and setting a precedent with his leading presence at the fore front. His message to the Scholars was that our lives may remain under political, social or economic threat but knowledge once gained remains unthreatened throughout life as it can neither be stolen nor diminished.
Reading out a detailed annual report of umpteen college activities and achievements, the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi reiterated the Vidyalaya’s commitment to pursue excellence in all its endeavours academic, co-academic , sports, cultural, N.S.S., N.C.C. She averred that achievements national as well as international are those milestones that renew institution’s vigour, faith and commitment to social responsibility of forging new pathways for national growth and development.
The event witnessed the award of 500 degrees to the scholars of 12 PG and various UG programmes. As many as 40 medals of merit were bestowed upon the scholars who donned their alma mater proud by bagging top merit positions in GNDU. The college book titled “Cross – Cultural Nuances” was also released on this occasion. Gen. V.K. Singh planted a tree on this occasion to mark World Earth Day.  Further I.T. labs under the Kushal Kendra Scheme by MHRD was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest.  A student of KMV Navpreet, a finalist at Famine Miss India 2016 competition was bestowed the award for Courage & Conviction by the Chief Guest. 
Congratulating all the achievers on their accomplishments, Gen. V.K. Singh lauded the historic role of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya in responding to momentous issues of women empowerment and national fervour. He metaphorically called KMV an island with luminous halo that has the potential to dispel darkness around. He added that courage and conviction are the ingredients required for success, not the dependence on destiny.
The Gen. Secretary of KMV Managing Committee, Sh. Alok Sondhiji extended a formal vote of thanks to all the esteemed Guests and blessed the passed out scholars with the words that Life a series of beginning not endings. He congratulated the organisers Dr. Poornima and Dr. Madhumeet for the successful of the event culmination of the event.
