Jalandhar 24 March (Jaswinder Azad)- District Administration and Police Department has initiated a joint action plan against drugs in Jalandhar district on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for complete eradication of drug menace from the state completely.
Addressing a meeting of Police and Civil authorities here today Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma said that each one would face the stern legal action on found of illegal activities pertain to in drugs in the district. Besides regular checking to curb the drug supply networks completely the District Administration and Police authorities would establish sturdy public rapport for the getting information regarding the people indulged in such kind of anti social activities, said Mr. Sharma adding further that a road map has already been chalked out to attain the desired aims.
Deputy Commissioner further said that every week the progress would be reviewed in the district. He further motivated the civil authorities to play active role in making the society drug free. ``It is our prime duty to make the society drug free and for that very purpose we would establish Administration –Public rapport. No lapse on part of any official would be tolerated in eradicating drugs, added DC.
Deputy Commissioner directed the District Health Authorities for regular checking of chemist shops and the Police department would provide necessary help to the health department for the same. He also directed the health authorities for regular inspection of drug-De-Addiction centers for the smooth run besides making the people aware of facilities on such centers. He also directed the authorities of Excise and Taxation Department for strongly enforce the laws to fixing quantity of liquor sale. Deputy Commissioner also said that special competitions including Debates, Essay Writing and awareness rallies would be organized in Schools and Educational Institutes for disseminating awareness of health hazards and social evils due to drugs.
Commissioner of Police Mr. Arpit Shukla while addressing meeting said that the department has already established Helpline number 9592918005 for Urban areas and Helpline Number 7837340018 for Rural areas on which anybody can give information of persons indulged in drug sale activities. Besides Police personnel in civil dress would also work in the field to create strong network. The department would also motivate the people to play pro-active role to make the society drug free. On the Occasion ADC (G) Mr. Gurmeet Singh, ADC (D) Mr. Girish Diyalan, SSP Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, and SDMs were present.
