KMV to Grant Scholarships worth Rs. 1 Crore to commemorate its 130 years of Women Empowerment

Jalandhar 25 May (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar, on completion of its 130 years’ immense contribution to the cause of Women Empowerment through education, announces scholarships worth Rs. One Crore to the brilliant and deserving students. Last year, nearly 500 students were granted various scholarships to facilitate girl students in pursuing their cherished dreams.
The college provides financial support and incentives to students with outstanding performance in academics, co curricular activities  & sports  and  to students with physical disabilities, besides helping the needy and economically weak  students .
    The college awards full freeship to students scoring 95%marks & above and students  achieving top position in the university  in  any  stream.
    The college offers  an amount of Rs. 11000 as scholarship to students scoring  90 to 94.9 percent marks, Rs 6500  to students  obtaining 85  to 89.9 percent marks and Rs.4500 to students getting 80 to 84.9 percent marks.
    The students scoring 2nd position in the University are given 60 percent fee concession and those obtaining 3rd position in the University get 40 percent fee concession.  
    The college  provides up to 100 percent free waiver for economically weak students and further helps them by offering free books, free Internet facility,  free remedial classes and free Personality Development Programme, Foundation Programme, Yoga, Self Defence classes and Student Counselling facilities
    All college players get full freeship and free boarding & lodging facility.
    In addition to these  scholarships, the outstanding achievers in academics, ECA and other areas  get scholarships/ cash awards.
In the six B.Voc Courses being run under the prestigious DDU Kaushal Kendra granted to the college by MHRD, Govt. of India for promoting job-oriented skill development courses, the brilliant and deserving students are given fee concession upto Rs. 5500 despite the nominal fee structure i.e. 7500 per semester.  The Gandhian Studies Centre and the Women Studies Centre also contribute in empowering girls from under privileged sections of society by providing them free skills development and entrepreneurial training and nearly 2500 girls have been made self reliant so far.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi reiterated the commitment of the  college to the cause of women emancipation through providing educational opportunities to girls and by making all out efforts to reach out to even the most marginalised class.
