SUKHWANT AND HER FAMILY LAUDS HUMANE APPROACH OF SSP GURPREET SIGH BHULLAR

  • INDEBTED SUKHWANT THANKS JALANDHAR (RURAL) POLICE FOR SAVING HER FROM DEATHTRAP
  • MY FAMILY WOULD EVER REMAIN INDEBTED TO SSP- KULWANT SINGH
Jalandhar 3 June (Jaswinder Azad)- Around six months of inhuman torture in Saudi Arabia has bruised the psyche of Sukhwant Kaur so much so that a day after her return from the Gulf, she immediately rushed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Jalandhar (Rural) Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar to thank him for rescuing her from the ‘deathtrap’.
It was a routine day for Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar (Rural) Mr. Bhullar, who was meeting the general public to redress their grievances in his office on Saturday, when his eyes came across a chit of Jagdish Singh Sarpanch of village Ajitani near Nurmahal, who had came to meet him. Knowing well that Jagdish was the man responsible for flagging an important issue of plight of a woman from his village before the world, the SSP immediately called him inside. Mr. Bhullar was surprised to note that Jagdish was accompanied by the lady, who had recently made headlines after her return from Saudi Arabia, and his husband Kulwant Singh with a box of sweets in their hands. The SSP asked them whether everything was alright and pat came the reply from the lady that they were here to thank the Jalandhar (Rural) Police especially Mr. Bhullar for saving her life.
With moist eyes and folded hands her Kulwant Singh expressed his gratitude towards the Jalandhar Police for lending a helping hand to bring back his wife. He said that around 10 days back he had lost hope of return of her wife but after Jagdish persuaded him to file an application with the Police he met the SSP and narrated his tale of woes. Mr. Bhullar immediately directed Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajinder Singh Cheema and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Balwinder Iqbal Singh to start action. After which the DSP rounded up the woman agent Pooja @ Satish Kumari who had taken Rs 40,000 from Kulwant to send his wife abroad. During the investigation it came into notice that actually the kingpin was Shakeel Khan a Delhi based agent who had also taken Rs 60,000 from Sukhwant Kaur. On the directions of SSP the Police then tightened the noose around both Pooja and Shakeel, which helped them to trace the whereabouts of Sukhwant in Arabia.
The sustained efforts of Jalandhar Police then gave fresh lease of life to Sukhwant’s family which then started more vigorous efforts to save her life by taking up the issue at Government level. Kulwant Singh said that home coming of his wife would have never been ensured if the district Police had not swung into action immediately. He said that the entire top brass of the Police especially the SSP was directly in touch with them and they regularly ensured him that his wife would be back soon. He said that the humane approach of SSP has touched him the most and he would ever remain indebted to him saving his wife from death trap due to which I am here. “I am a poor man but my family will always pray to the Almighty for blessing the SSP with more success in life” he added.
The SSP said that selling of a lady of above 50 years of age in gulf was a rarest of rare case and the thought of mental torture being faced by her family was the driving force behind our planned action. However, he said that the credit of executing this plan goes to the entire team. Mr. Bhullar also assured the lady that soon Shakeel and Pooja would be behind the bars for their sins. He said that a FIR under section 406, 420 and 24 (Passport & Immigration Act) has been registered against both the accused at Nurmahal Police Station.
