Jalandhar 22 December (Gurkirat Singh)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, the Heritage Institution added yet another title to the long list of its publications with the release of the book Youth: The Drivers of Change. This book is a compilation of papers and articles discussing and deliberating upon various facets of the concerns and challenges that the youth of today encounter and must overcome to carve a successful future for themselves and the society. The book has seen the light of the day with the meaningful efforts of the Chief Editor Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV and the Editors Dr. Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare and Dr. Deepika Anand, Dean KMV School of Communications. While talking about the motivation behind the book, Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, expatiated that, "KMV is committed to creating and sustaining an invigorating ambience for the youth. The book 'Youth-The Drivers of Change’ is yet another colossal step in this direction. This book is driven by the motive to compile, consolidate and elucidate ideas that can result in better patterns of growth and development of major part of population." She further stated that India is proud of its assets in the form of about 65% of its population being under 35 years of age and now we have to focus on the development of this tremendous human resource, which if well trained and educated, could be the largest source of national growth. This book has provided a suitable podium for meaningful cogitations and deliberations on the overly significant topic. While appreciating all the contributors for their well researched papers, Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the Editors Dr. Madhumeet and Dr. Deepika Anand for their diligent, concerted and committed endeavours throughout the process of publication of the book. She hoped this book is useful to individuals and institutions working to make positive youth development a reality. Speaking about the book, the editors, Dr. Madhumeet and Dr. Deepika Anand intimated that research papers and articles touching upon vastly different aspects of the theme ranging from youth leadership, media and youth engagement, employability and skill development, consumerism, sustainable development, impact of social networking sites to gender concerns and the role youth can play in igniting the change have been included in the book. The editors felt that we need to continue investing in young people, by creating opportunities for them and by addressing their most critical challenges. This book is a pertinent step in this direction.
