Jalandhar 9 March (Gurkirat Singh)- Celebrated on 8th March, every year, the significance of International Women's Day is increasing year after year and has become a custom today. On that account, all the female teachers and students of Post Graduation were wearing Pink coloured clothes. The Chief guest and guest speakers were Miss Ramanpreet Kaur having more than 20 years work experience with AIR, doordarshan, Big FM, Radio Mantra,Punjab Radio UK and MJ Mannchhahi Mannat from 92.7 Big FM. Vice Principal and HOD Commerce department Prof. VK Sareen welcomed the guests. President Commerce Forum Prof Ekjot Kaur addressed the guests by saying women act as a daughter, a wife, a mother. She has the charm, strength, power. She is a guide to others. She said in the lines of Guru Nanak Dev Ji " So kyu manda aakhiye Jeet jame Rajan", women had started gaining respect from 13th century.They are now appreciated and honoured. Miss Ramanpreet Kaur discussed the hardships of life which a woman faces in her entire life. She said woman should stand strong and fight for their rights, as they have all the rights to further educate themselves and enhance skills, learn safety skills and much more. She said that Girls are beautiful and they add colours to the lives. She said empowering women is very necessary for bringing gender equality. Those societies flourish well where woman are given equal respect and are not taken for granted. There was an interactive session with the students. Best Quotation Writing Competition was organised. Winners were Malika Gulati, Surbhi Taneja and Radhika from M.com-1. Best Dressed Competition among the the teachers were Prof.Kanubha and Prof. Protima and among students was Diksha Nayyar from M.com -2. Students made a logo of International Women's Day too. HOD History Department Dr Kiranjit Randhawa stressed on giving importance to the most thankless job of a woman, ie, being a mother. The job of a mother is 24 hour paidless job which should be recognised.She congratulated everyone with her warm wishes. President Commerce Forum Prof. Ekjot Kaur said that each woman should understand their importance and should have the courage to built in their efforts for their own progress. We should talk about 'Humanism' not Feminism. Just recognize your potential.
