K.M.V. organizes Extention Lecture on “ Subtle Distribution of Electron Density in Carbon-X Bond : Chemical Reactivity to Information Generation”

Jalandhar 7 March (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar-the Heritage and Autonomous institution’s Dept. of Chemistry organized an extension lecture on “Subtle Distribution of Electron Density in Carbon-x bond: Chemical Reactivity to Information Generation” under DBT Star College Scheme by Dr.Subodh Kumar, Prof. Dept. of Chemistry, G.N.D.U. Amritsar. Students of B.Sc. Medical and Non-Medical attended the same. Outlining the real challenges faced by innovators and eminent scientists, he also elaborated on the distribution of electrons in a carbon atom. Proceeding to various levels of oxidation of carbon and bonding to atoms of different nature, he explained how it affected the reactions exhibited by the compounds. Dr.Subodh also briefed in his lecture the details of molecular recognition and its applications in day to day life. Talking about processing units he explained their preparations, characterization and application. Chemosensors was another topic he dealt with.
The lecture was a great learning experience for the students. It was attended by all the faculty of the Dept. of Chemistry. Principal Prof. Dr.Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Dept. of Chemistry for having organized such a fruitful exposure for the students of the Dept. She appreciated that such academic ventures were a regular feature of the Dept. and enriched its academic potential.
