Industry Academia Meet at KMV

Jalandhar 10 April (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Autonomous and Heritage Institution, Jalandhar job avenues linked to academic training is a priority and as the young trainees at KMV had an interface with prominent professionals from various fields of in order to hone their professional skills. Anirudh Das Gupta (MISC master trainer), Milind Damle (Asst. Prof., FTII, Pune), Ashish Verma Apparel Madeup and Home Furnishing sector skill council (AMHSSC), Manpreet Kaur (Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council) were among the prominent people from various industries. The other well-known names were Vikas Sachdeva (News Editor, Ajit Samachar), Shridhar Raju (Chief Sub-editor, Dainik Jagran) and Deepak Gulati (Asst. Manager HR, Prime Focus world). They represented different fields where the students would work after completing their degree. Welcoming people from various industries Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi said that the college was willing to design new courses/ revise syllabi of the existing one according to the skill required for various jobs in the sectors these people represented so that jobs could come easily to the youth who were not only qualified for it but also job ready from day one with special skills required in different avenues. This would be implemented in coming academic session. With special reference to skill development she said that students were also learning models of Sustainable development. Dr. Anirudh Das Gupta observed that young people are not making a career in classic animation because the country is fast become a centre of professions in visual effects, gaming, film making etc. As a result there is shortage of manpower in the field of jobs related in classic animation. Milind Damle talked about (SKIFT) that is skilling young India in film & television through short-term courses so that they did not have to (FTII) to get equipped for a job. Mr. Ashish Verma talked about Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) being sponsored by the textile ministry of India. He said that job avenues are being promoted by National Skill Development Council and also (AEPC) which has at present become the largest job creating industry after agriculture. Ms. Manpreet Kaur also outlined various job avenues in the beauty and wellness industry like Nail technician, Yoga instructor and gym instructor. On the occasion Director Kaushal Kendra, Dr. Gopi Sharma thanked all the dignities who had spared valuable time from their packed schedules Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the team of Kaushal Kendra for having organized such a wide exposure  for the students.
