- CT to provide free education to 15 girl children under "I'm Also Malala" scheme
- There is an urgent need to save and educate girl child in India: Manbir Singh
Jalandhar 12 July (Jaswinder Azad)- “If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation." When girls are educated, the country becomes stronger and more prosperous. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world. Putting efforts to motivate girl education especially from BPL families, CT Public School has stepped forward and entered into its second year of "I'm Also Malala" scheme.
Introducing this scheme last year, "I'm Also Malala" catered to the educational needs of 15 girl students for free and this year 15 more girls have been registered. Telling about the same, Principal Dr. Suresh Sharma said, "Our school believes that when we educate girls we are not educating them individually but we are also empowering them and we are giving them opportunities to earn for themselves like, Malala Yousafzai wishes. The school is a pioneer in promoting various girl educational programmes. It is the second year that the school is successfully running the Malala programme by the name “I’m also Malala”, advocating every girl’s right to free, safe and quality education. This project yields good impact on the career of about 30 girl children studying in CTPS through excellent education."
Telling further he said, "More than 3 lakh rupees have been spent in providing help and support required to continue their education. Not only this, the project also protects girl child from child marriages, trafficking, domestic servants, and eradication of illiteracy and provide good quality education. From this unique project, deprived girl child gets timely education material support, uniforms, shoes, dictionaries and school bags etc."
Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director CT Group stated that there is an urgent need to save and educate a girl child in India if we really want to see India as a developed nation. “We will also send the report of our project to Malala Foundation and would wish her to visit our campus in order to boost the spirit of these children”, he said.
