Jalandhar 28 August (Jaswinder Azad)- A colourful array of Raksha bandan themes was organised by the Post Graduate Department of History and Social Sensitization Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College. Principal, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra inaugurated the programme in the presence of other staff members. Students of different departments overwhelmingly participated in the Rakhi Making, Thali Making, Rakhi Card Making, Gift Wrapping, Origami, Clay Modeling, Rangoli, Toran Making categories of competitions. Dr. Samra in his address said to the students that festivals are part of our cultural ethos. Seasonal and spiritual festivals are integral part of Punjabi social life. Raksha bandhan is a festival of love, care and emotions of brothers and sisters. Lyallpur Khalsa College is a united family and it is the endeavour of the college management to provide a congenial atmosphere to its students by organising such social festivities. Dr. Suman Chopra, Head of the Department, explained the historical and mythological connotations attached with Raksha bandhan. Prof. Amita Shahid, Coordinator of the function, congratulated the students for their participation. Prof. Geetanjli Mahajan, Prof. Anu, Prof. Harpreet Kaur and Dr. Upma Arora adjudged the art works of the students. Principal, Dr. Samra distributed the prizes to the winners. Stage was anchored by Dr. Karanbir Singh. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jaswinder Kaur. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Prof. Arunjeet Kaur, Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Prof. Sandeep Kaur, Prof. Sooraj Bhagat and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
