• DAPO, BUDDY AND TANDARUST PUNJAB TO BE PART OF INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS IN JALANDHAR
Jalandhar 13 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that apart from various cultural items imbued in patriotic fervor the Independence Day celebrations would also focus on flagship programs of Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO), Buddy and the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’.
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of the full dress rehearsal for the mega event here today at the local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the Deputy Commissioner said that the preparations for this mega event was going on in full swing and every effort would be made to make sure that the day was celebrated with full patriotic and nationalistic fervor. Mr. Sharma said that dazzling performances dipped in patriotic fervor by students from various educational institutions would be once again the hallmark of the Independence Day celebrations in the city. He said that the administration was duty-bound for organizing this gala event enthusiastically.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the mega event would be celebrated in the district in an unsurpassed manner. He said that Jalandhar district would once again uphold the glorious tradition of organizing the best function to commemorate this auspicious day. Mr. Sharma said that the cultural events to be presented by the students would showcase the patriotic fervor and rich legacy of state besides focusing on the theme of ‘unity in diversity’, which was the very basis of our country.
Lauding the efforts made by organizing committee for making stupendous efforts to observe this mega event in a befitting manner, the Deputy Commissioner said that the scintillating performances of the students and the perfect march past led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Maninder Pal Singh was the result of hard work of the officers of district administration along with Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Manmohan Singh and others. He also lauded the strenuous efforts made by this team for roping in the educational institutes of the city to give their best performances to celebrate this event.
