National Sports Day celebrated in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar 29 August (Gurkirat Singh)- National Sports Day marking the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand was duly celebrated in the lush green sports outfields of Lyallpur Khalsa College. International Hockey player and captain of the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup winning team, Harjeet Singh, graced the occasion as chief guest. As a part of the program, a cross country was held and the first 15 rank holders in the same were duly honoured with track suits and sports kits by Chief Guest Harjeet Singh, College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Dean Sports Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains and Dr. Tarsem Singh. The overall trophy of the program went to the Hockey Group of the college. Chief Guest Harjeet Singh shared notable moments from his sports journey and also recalled the role played by the college in producing numerous international level quality athletes. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra reiterated the college’s commitment to provide a conducive atmosphere and facilities for its budding sportsmen while also mentioned another former player of the college, Manjit Singh, winner of 800 meters race in the ongoing Asian Games. Dr. Tarsem Singh, represented the Department of Physical Education by informing about the various activities undertaken by the department. Dean Sports, Dr. S.S. Bains delivered the vote of thanks. The occasion was also witnessed by Prof. Ahuja Sandeep, Dr. Vikas Kumar, Dr. Amritpal Singh, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Mohan Singh, Prof. Jasveer Singh, A.L. Saini, Jagdish Singh and Preet Singh. Stage was managed by Dr. Karanvir Singh.
