Jalandhar 26 April (Bureau)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar which recognizes travelling as a great educational experience, educational trips are organised from time to time to enhance knowledge and give healthy growing exposure. This time it was P.G. Dept. of Fashion Designing & Merchandising that organised a trip to Jaipur and Pushkar. 39 students from B. Voc. in ( Textile Designing & Technology, Photography and Journalism, Nutrition Exercise and Health) along with students of M.Sc. and B.Sc. (F.D) and B.Sc. (H. Sc.) with five teachers visited various places of aesthetic value in Jaipur and Pushkar. Specially worth mentioning is the visit to Sanganer, a house of Blue Pottery and Block Printing, unique in its artistic value and beauty.
The second visit to the city Palace, Jaipur was equally enriching as the artisans there showcased their invaluable craft and among these were some national awardees who amazed the students with live demonstrations of their skills. The opportunity to visit paper factory gave the students a chance to view and understand the whole process of handmade papers and various articles made from this paper e.g. lamp shades, paper bags and gift boxes. Students of Home Science visited IIHMR and participated in the seminar being conducted there. The markets of Jaipur and Pushkar were also surveyed extensively and amazed the students with their potential for variety of ethnic fabrics, accessories and various other handicrafts.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the organisers, she observed that the world itself was the biggest and best of classrooms and that it was vital to move out of the four walls to learn and enjoy simultaneously.
