Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar successfully inaugurated its 7 day 'Wood Carving Camp'

Jalandhar 23 May (Jaswinder Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with Punjab Lalit Kala Akadekmi, Chandigarh successfully inaugurated its 7 day 'Wood Carving Camp' with full gusto and zeal. Mrs. Geetanjali Sagar Yadav, Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax, Jalandhar illumined the occasion as the Chief Guest.  In this 7 day camp, 10 renowned artists from various academies of Punjab will enlighten the students about various aspects of wood carving art.
Principal Dr. Sucharita extended a floral welcome to the worthy Chief Guest Mrs. Geetanjali Sagar Yadav, Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax.  Harvinder Singh Khalsa, President, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi and Ms. Sadhna Sangar, Secretary, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh.  Mrs. Geetanjali Sagar Yadav addressed the gathering and said such workshops are need of the hour to inculcate the values of artistic skills in young aspirants in this era of technical revolution.  Harvinder Singh Khalsa, President, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh expressed his views that it is a worldwide known fact that the success of countries like USA and Canada lies in their policies of preserving their rich cultures and he said in India especially Punjab, we need to revive the indigenous art practices to ensure our development.  
In this workshop, renowned artists like Vishal Bhatnagar (Chandigarh), Parminder Singh (Mohali), Vivekananda Kapri (Zirakpur), Charanjit Singh (Mohali), Narinder Singh (Amritsar), Jaswinder Singh (Khanna), Gurmeet Goldi (Chandigarh,) Amarveer Singh (Chandigarh), Basudeb Biswas (Jalandhar) and Mohinder Kumar Mastana (Jalandhar) will acquaint the students with the nuances of wood carving.
Principal Dr. Sucharita expressed her gratitude to the President and Secretary of Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh for their assistance in organizing this event in the College. She said in this workshop, Artists will give shape to abstract formations from realistic ones with the help of various tools. She said such workshops always pave the way for aspiring students to learn the tactics of wood carving art.
