Jalandhar 3 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Whether you want to help people living below poverty, orphans, to help empower women, or to bring peace to the world, donation is the one of the best ways to accomplish your perception of helping others as donation is a sustainable investment for the better of all mankind. With donation you can make a difference for many lives by donating. The members of the management and faculty at CT Group of Institutions signed the forms to donate their organs. The initiative of signing and encouraging others was taken by Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi (Co-Chairperson, CT Group of Institutions) and other members of the management, faculty and staff. More than 200 donated their eyes.
She encouraged others by saying, “We have to motivate people for such donations. Once we start realizing how noble this gift would be, the world would be a beautiful place." She said, "There is need to create a culture in which organ donation is commonplace; to provide financial and resource support for those donating, awaiting, and/or receiving organs; and to promote health education to minority communities." Mrs. Channi said that they would continue this venture by organizing multi organ donation activities in the future.
At the special event, Dr. Shamsher Singh Mann (Senior Medical Officer, Mobile Eye Unit) encouraged the faculty members as well. He stressed upon the need of donated organs in the society to save the life of others. “As everybody is willing to save but because nobody is taking an initiative the shortage of such required organs at the time of need is prevailing in our country.”
Dr. Mann spoke on the importance of the eye donation and asked the faculty members to carry home the knowledge to their respective places so as to increase the awareness of the subject. He said there is a huge requirement of organs amongst Indians with no other alternative but to get a transplant which could be possible if the relatives of the patient consent, “Eyes of single person can be transplant for the benefit for two lives. One person can save two and this is how eyes donation can save the lives of many.” He praised CT Group for Institutions for spreading the awareness.
