Jalandhar 24 August (Jaswinder Azad)- Foundation Programme, an innovative initiative of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage Institution, Jalandhar, designed to strengthen the intellectual foundation of all the new entrants in the college is organised for all the first year students of the Faculties of Commerce and Sciences. This programme, one of its kind in any college of the country, aims at bridging the gap between school and higher education. It seeks to promote, in the students, an awareness of the human intellectual history so that they can carry forward the rich legacy of humanity as responsible and humane citizens of the world.
A brain child of Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV, who also acts as the pilot faculty, conducted two sessions herself. The programme traced the human story beginning from the dawn of humanity and passing through the ancient and middle ages right upto the modern times. A team of 9 professors of the college led by Prof. Atima Sharma herself deals with various aspects of human history and make PowerPoint presentations to the students. All the sessions are highly interactive with students participating enthusiastically in discussions. They find this programme greatly beneficial as it increased their knowledge and awareness manifold. Students are also rewarded for their participation in interactions during various sessions. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated Dr. Deepika Anand, coordinator of the programme and also lauded the efforts of all the resource persons among whom are Mrs. Seema Jain, Dr. Madhumeet, Dr. Vinod Kalra, Dr. Gurjot, Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, Dr. Monika and Mrs. Ashima.
