Jalandhar 30 September (Jaswinder Azad)- The Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized Mathematical Quiz Competition and Extension Lecture on Role of Mathematics in Emerging Areas of Technology. The resource person was Dr. Loveleen Kumar Grover, Associate Prof. Deptt. of Mathematics, GNDU Amritsar. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and Head of Mathematics Deptt. Mrs. Gagandeep welcomed the resource person. Gayatri Mantras were recited by the students. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen encouraged the students to take part in such innovative programmes. Four team participated in quiz competition i.e., alpha, beta, gamma and delta. There were four rounds in quiz. While addressing the students, resource person Dr. Loveleen Kumar Grover explained the use of mathematics in daily life. He also explained the concept of technology with mathematics and related computer and mathematics with each other. He gave many tips in teaching learning skills and explained about the latest research which is going on in area of human brain and mathematics. He also introduced the latest research topic DNA computers. He encouraged the students for doing mathematics, not learning mathematics. In the quiz competition, Beta team i.e. Sonam , Bhavya and Priya Kumari got first position, Delta team i.e. Megha, Simranjeet and Manmeet got runners up position. Principal Dr. Sareen gave prizes to the winners. Head of department Mrs. Gagandeep presented vote of thanks. On this occasion, Ms. Saroj Mahajan, Ms. Deepali, Ms. Taruna and Ms. Gunjan Bhatia were also present there. Some students presented mathematical ideas through poems and songs. Stage was conducted by Mrs. Gagandeep and Deepali.
