Jalandhar 30 September (Jaswinder Azad)- A Lecture on Digitalization of Election System in the context of the coming Punjab Polls was organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, GNDU Regional Campus, Ladhewali, here today. The main speakers on the occasion were Prof. Avinash Singh, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Technlogy and Management, Shillong, and Mr. Sisir Shukla, Software Expert from Indore. Mr. Shukla has developed a web and mobile App for helping the political parties in strategizing their election campaigns where all information about the voters, constituencies etc. are available at the touch of a button. This app has already been tested in a few places and given positive results. Mr. Sisir demonstrated this app to the students and answered their queries. In his address to the students, Prof. Avinash Singh said that ‘Knowledge is Power’ and in this era of social media even the political system has gone digital. He further encouraged the students to work on their creative skills and acquire out of box thinking as lot of job opportunities are going to open up in the coming years. Earlier, Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department welcomed the guests and introduced them to the students. Dr. Charan Kamal Walia, Mr. Rama Shankar were also present on the occasion.
