Jalandhar 3 October (Jaswinder Azad)- At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage Insatitution,Jalandhar, Skill Development is one key focus area so that young women can fined a firm footing in the world and be economically independent. Recently K.M.V. Kaushal Kendra in collaboration with P.G. Dept. of Fashion Designing organized a five day workshop on quilting. Students from B.Voc. (Textile Designing and Apparel Tech.) alongwith students of B.Sc.IIIrd. sem (F.D.) participated in the workshop. The expert for the same was Mrs.Pawan of Pawan Handlooms, Jalandhar. She has twenty five yers experience in the field of needle craft. She taught students with practical demonstration various types of quilting and also how quilting could be used to make various products like cushion covers, Bedcovers, Bags, Kits, Pauches, Runners etc. She said that there were limitless possibilities of getting creative with quilting. Principal Prof. Dr.Mrs.Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked the expert for having shared invaluable experience, expertise and advice with the young girls. She also congratulated both the Kaushal Kendra and P.G.Dept. of Fashion Designing for having organized such a fruitful activity on a very practical and relevant subject.
