Jalandhar 9 October (Jaswinder Azad)- The Department of English of Apeejay College of Fine Arts organized a Literary Symposium in which a movie based on Shakespeare’s play Hamlet was shown to the students of English Literature. The students of M.A. English and B.A. Elective English watched the movie with great enthusiasm. Ms. Navkiran Bedi Asst. Prof. Dept. of English gave the students a brief background to the play listing the chief features of a revenge tragedy. Dr. Sunit, Head Dept of English addressed the students and talked about the various similarities and differences between the written and audio visual aspects of the same text.
Principal Dr. Sucharita appreciated the efforts of the Dept. of English and opined that movies based on literature help the students in better comprehension of literary texts and such movies impart a better knowledge of literary genres.
